On Saturday 9 August 2025, Wirral Ways joined the celebrations at Wirral Pride in the Victoria Quarter of New Brighton—a vibrant day filled with colour, music, and community spirit. Now in its fourth year, the event has grown into a much-loved fixture on the Wirral calendar, attracting people from across the region to stand together for inclusion, equality, and pride.
For us, being at Pride was about more than joining the party—it was about making sure people knew the support and services we offer are here for everyone. Our friendly team spent the day talking to visitors about:
- Free and confidential support for anyone affected by drug or alcohol use, including family members and carers
- STI and HIV testing and treatment, with information on local support and how to access help quickly
- Free condoms and safe sex advice, helping people reduce the risk of infections and unplanned pregnancy
- Chemsex information and harm reduction tips, so people can stay informed and make safer choices
- Wellbeing support, from advice on staying healthy to signposting specialist services
We had so many meaningful conversations—whether it was someone wanting to find out more for themselves, a friend, or just to take resources away “just in case.” The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect space to connect with people who might not have reached out to us otherwise.
Jacob Jones, Volunteer, Service User Involvement & Communications Lead at Wirral Ways, said:
“This was our fourth time attending Wirral Pride, and it’s amazing to see the event getting bigger and stronger every year. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to promote what we do and how we can support people from every walk of life. Pride also gives us the chance to network with other services, build stronger partnerships, and work together to make sure people get the help they need when they need it.”
Alongside the important chats, we loved being part of the celebrations. The Pride site was buzzing with live music, dancing, stalls, and activities, showing just how strong and supportive the Wirral community can be.
A Big Thank You
To everyone who visited our stall, took information, or shared their story—thank you. You made our day. And to the organisers of Wirral Pride, we’re grateful for the chance to stand proudly alongside so many others, showing that health, safety, and support are for everyone.
Pride might be one day, but our work goes on all year. Whether you need advice, support, or just someone to talk to—Wirral Ways is here.
