I’m really proud to share that Change Grow Live has been re-accredited with the Investing in Volunteers award. This is the national quality mark for volunteer management, and being recognised again shows just how much we value our volunteers and the incredible contribution they make to our community.

This accreditation isn’t just a badge. It reflects the genuine care, support, and commitment that runs through everything we do here. During the assessment, six of our volunteers, along with me, spoke to the assessor about their experiences. Hearing what they had to say was honestly one of the highlights of the whole process.

Here are a few of the things our volunteers shared:

“It feels like a family and a good place to develop. They help people make meaningful change.”

“They always want to improve it, and they love it when you suggest new ideas or things.”

“I feel valued by the amount of training, they care about our progress. We’re not made to feel any different to staff.”

Comments like these mean a huge amount. They show that our volunteers feel supported, included, and empowered to grow – which is exactly what we want.

Across Change Grow Live, the reassessment was a large piece of work. The national team led six full days of conversations and gathered feedback from more than 60 volunteers, 17 staff, and over 40 survey responses. Services across the UK took part, and despite having more than 1,000 volunteers across 98 sites, Wirral Ways stood out as a strong, positive example.

The assessors praised a number of things across Change Grow Live as a whole, including:

  • A clear and embedded vision for volunteering
  • Inclusive and values-led recruitment
  • Support that helps people feel safe, heard, and confident
  • Growth and recognition built into day-to-day practice

Here at Wirral Ways, this recognition reflects the work our teams and volunteers put in every single day. As I shared with the assessor:

“I see firsthand the difference our volunteers make to the people we support. Their compassion, their energy, and their willingness to give their time is inspiring. This award is a reminder that when we invest in our volunteers, we build a stronger service and a stronger community.”

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in the assessment. Thank you for your honesty, your enthusiasm, and your commitment to helping people change their lives for the better.
