Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 11 to 17 May 2026. This year’s theme, set by the Mental Health Foundation, is Take Action. The message is clear that while awareness matters, meaningful change comes from what we actually do. And action does not need to be big or complicated. Sometimes it starts with simply finding out what support is out there.

If you are in immediate danger

If you or someone you know is in serious or life-threatening mental health crisis, dial 999 immediately.

Whether you are struggling with your mental health, supporting someone who is, or just want to know what is available in your area, there is a lot of help on the Wirral. Here is a guide to local and national services.

Support at Wirral Ways

At Wirral Ways, we know that mental health and substance use are often closely linked. We have a dedicated Dual Diagnosis Nurse who is here to support people experiencing both mental health and substance use challenges. If you think you could benefit from that support, speak to your keyworker about a referral.

We also offer a free, confidential counselling service. Find out more at wirralways.org.uk/about/our-services/counselling.
