Today, five people did something extraordinary.
They walked into Nightingales Recovery Hub this morning as participants in our Community Rehab Programme, and they left as graduates. After 12 weeks of full-time, intensive work – showing up every day, facing difficult things, and choosing themselves – they made it.
We are so proud of every single one of them.
What the Community Rehab Programme involves
The programme is free, runs for 12 weeks full-time, Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm, and supports people to recover from substance use while continuing to live at home – staying connected to their families, their communities, and their lives.
It moves through three stages: Keystones, where participants explore their values and begin building a recovery identity; Millstones and Milestones, where they work through trauma, shame, and emotional blocks; and Touchstones and Lodestones, where they look ahead – finding purpose, planning for life after rehab, and thinking about what it means to be “better than well.”
Along the way, participants take part in art psychotherapy, CBT-informed groupwork, wellness planning, and peer support, all within a structured, therapeutic space designed to feel safe.
It is not an easy thing to commit to. And today’s graduates committed fully.
A special surprise
Today’s graduation had an extra special moment. Former Everton footballer Tony Grant came along to surprise one of the graduates – a huge Evertonian – making an already memorable day even more so. It was a brilliant, warm touch, and it meant the world.
What happens next
Graduating from the programme is not the end – it is the beginning of the next chapter. Our alumni group meets every Monday at 10am at Nightingales Recovery Hub, giving graduates a space to stay connected, support one another, and continue growing.
To our five graduates: today belongs to you. You have worked hard for it, you have earned it, and everyone at Wirral Ways is cheering you on.
