PULSE is our ongoing survey, always open, so you can tell us honestly what’s working and what isn’t, whenever you want to. Each month, we sit down and go through everything that’s come in. May 2026 was a quiet month for responses, just 4, so we want to be upfront that this is a small snapshot rather than a full picture. Even so, every comment mattered and every one has been read.

How you’re finding the service

Of the 4 people who responded, 3 said yes, they’re satisfied with the service, and 1 said maybe. Nobody said no. With such a small number of responses, we’re not reading too much into the percentages this month, but it’s a positive starting point.

What you value most

Three of the four responses this month were about our Family Focus group, which lets parents bring their children along rather than needing to arrange separate childcare. The feedback was heartfelt:

“I love doing family focus as I can get into group with my 18 month old son. I really struggle with childcare so this has been amazing. I need support for my children and without this group I would be knackered.”

“Family focus was good, being able to bring children as I struggle with childcare.”

One respondent also suggested a fun idea for a new group: a hair styling session for parents and their daughters. Small, specific suggestions like this are exactly the kind of thing we like hearing.

Where we need to do better

This month’s feedback was more personal and specific than usual, and worth sharing honestly.

Childcare remains a barrier in other parts of the service. One respondent who values the Family Focus group told us that childcare is getting in the way of completing our Academy programme, which involves attending evening AA meetings. This is a genuine, practical barrier for some parents, and it’s something we’re following up directly.

One respondent asked us not to rush, and suggested that recovery workers with their own lived experience of addiction are best placed to understand what people are going through.

Who took part

Only 1 of the 4 respondents completed the demographic questions this month, so we can’t give a meaningful breakdown. What we can say is that of the 4 responses, 2 were accessing support for drug use and 2 for alcohol use.

What we’re doing about it

  1. Addressing childcare barriers to completing the Academy. Following up directly to explore options for childcare or alternative meeting times, and looking more broadly at whether scheduling could be made more accessible for parents.
  2. Considering the group format suggestion. Looking at the hair styling group idea alongside our other group planning.

Thank you

PULSE only works because you’re honest with us, about what’s helping and what isn’t. This was a small month, but it told us something real: the Family Focus group is making a genuine difference for parents, and childcare is still a barrier we need to keep working on elsewhere in the service.

PULSE is open all the time, so if you have more to say, you don’t need to wait for the next survey window. Speak to your keyworker, or any member of the team at Wirral Ways.
