Sally Rzeszowski, Dual Diagnosis Practitioner from the Stein Centre and working for Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust, shares three simple ways to manage stress while in recovery.
- Eat a balanced diet
What you eat can influence your energy levels, mood and ability to cope. Try to avoid sugary snacks and highly processed foods, as these can cause big energy crashes.
- Get moving
Physical exercise helps release endorphins, which improve your mood and sleep and reduce stress hormones. It doesn’t need to be intense, a 10-minute brisk walk or a swim is enough to make a difference.
- Stay connected
Talk to a trusted friend, colleague or family member. Engaging with support such as Wirral Ways can help reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing.
Sally spends four days a week at Wirral Ways, providing thorough mental health assessments with an agreed action plan for each client.
