Addiction and Complex Neglect

Addiction and Complex Neglect

This free training session explores the relationship between addiction and complex neglect, giving you the knowledge and confidence to identify and respond effectively when the two intersect.

We look at how substance use can both contribute to and result from neglect, the impact on individuals and families, and how professionals and volunteers across health, social care, and the third sector can work together to improve outcomes.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Recognise the signs of complex neglect in the context of substance use
  • Understand how addiction and neglect reinforce each other
  • Apply a trauma-informed, person-centred approach when working with affected individuals
  • Know when and how to escalate safeguarding concerns

This session is suitable for anyone working with or supporting people affected by substance use, including social care professionals, healthcare workers, volunteers, and third sector practitioners.
