This free training session is a brand new course from Wirral Ways CGL, offering a comprehensive introduction to alcohol addiction — what it is, who it affects, and how to support people effectively.

Alcohol is the most commonly misused substance in the UK, and its impact on individuals, families, and communities is significant. This session gives you the knowledge and skills to engage with people affected by alcohol addiction in a confident, informed, and non-judgemental way.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Explain what alcohol addiction is and how it develops
  • Recognise the signs of alcohol dependency
  • Understand the health and social impacts of alcohol misuse
  • Apply evidence-based approaches when supporting people affected by alcohol addiction

This session is suitable for anyone working with or supporting people affected by alcohol use, including health and social care professionals, volunteers, third sector workers, and members of the public.
