We know that reaching out for support around drugs or alcohol can be difficult – especially when language, culture, or trust in services can be a barrier. That’s why Wirral Ways is proud to be working in partnership with Wirral Change to launch a new monthly drop-in session, designed to offer accessible, culturally sensitive support for anyone affected by substance use.
Who Are Wirral Change?
Wirral Change is a community-led organisation that offers advice, support, and advocacy for people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds across the Wirral. Their work is rooted in breaking down inequality and improving access to services – whether through immigration support, employment advice, health awareness, or community engagement.
By teaming up with Wirral Change, we’re bringing drug and alcohol support directly into a space that is already trusted by many local communities.

The session is supported by experienced staff from Wirral Ways, who specialise in supporting people around drug and alcohol use. Together, our services aim to make support more inclusive and easier to access for people from all communities.
We can offer:
- One-to-one, confidential support
- Advice and harm reduction strategies to help keep you and others safe
- Guidance on reducing risks and making informed choices
- A culturally sensitive approach, recognising the impact of faith, culture and community
- Confidential language support, including interpreters if needed
- Signposting to further services, including longer-term support
Who Is It For?
Anyone aged 18+ is welcome, whether you’re:
- Concerned about your own drug or alcohol use
- Supporting a friend or family member
- Just looking for information or advice
You don’t need a referral, a diagnosis, or a specific goal in mind — just come as you are.
Why This Matters
Substance use affects people from all backgrounds, but support doesn’t always feel accessible or inclusive. Through this partnership, we aim to remove some of the barriers people may face – whether that’s language, stigma, or a lack of trust in mainstream services.
By offering a space that is safe, supportive and culturally informed, we hope more people will feel comfortable asking for help – and feel confident that they’ll be heard.
