Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Wirral Ways. Every day, people give their time, skills, and lived experience to help others feel heard, welcomed, and supported. It is a powerful thing to be part of and we are always excited to welcome new people into the team.
Right now, we have a number of volunteering opportunities across Wallasey and Birkenhead. Each role plays an important part in helping people connect with support, feel more confident in taking the next step, and build a life that feels healthier and more hopeful.
If you want to make a real difference and join a team that values compassion, community, and positive change, this could be the perfect time to get involved.
Current Volunteer Vacancies
Alcohol Support Volunteer (Wallasey)
Help people who want support around alcohol use. This role involves offering a warm, non-judgemental welcome, supporting group sessions, and helping people feel confident walking through the door. It is a great role for anyone who enjoys connecting with others and wants to make sure people never feel alone.
Reception Support Volunteer (Wallasey)
Be the friendly face that greets our visitors. You will help people feel at ease as they arrive, support staff with day to day tasks, and bring calm, confidence, and kindness to the front desk.
Opiate Support Volunteer (Wallasey)
Support people who are working on their relationship with opiates. This role might include helping with groups, offering one to one welcome chats, or supporting staff with basic tasks. It is a rewarding opportunity to be part of someone’s journey at a time when they need steady, caring support.
Reception Support Volunteer (Birkenhead)
Our Birkenhead hub is busy and full of life. As a reception volunteer, you will help people feel comfortable as they arrive, answer basic queries, and support the smooth running of the service. A great fit for someone who enjoys helping people and keeping things organised.
Admin Support Volunteer (Birkenhead)
If you enjoy structure, admin, and behind the scenes tasks that keep a service running, this is a brilliant role to step into. You will support staff with data entry, forms, filing, and general admin duties. It is an important part of helping us provide safe, high quality support.
Why volunteer with us
People volunteer with Wirral Ways for lots of reasons. Some want to give back. Some want work experience. Others want to build their confidence or be part of a community where people look out for each other.
No matter your motivation, you will be welcomed, supported, and trained. You will learn new skills, meet new people, and become part of a service that celebrates hope and possibility. Many volunteers also go on to access further training, new opportunities, or paid roles across Change Grow Live.
Volunteers make a huge difference here. Every smile on reception, every conversation in a group, and every moment someone feels safe enough to ask for help is shaped by the people who give their time.
