Harm reduction training provides practical, evidence based strategies to reduce the risks associated with drug and alcohol use. This harm reduction training course focuses on improving safety, preventing overdose and reducing the wider health harms linked to substance use.

The course explores the core principles of harm reduction, including dignity, respect and non judgemental support. Participants will gain a clear understanding of safer drug and alcohol use advice, overdose awareness and response, naloxone administration, and blood borne virus prevention. Harm reduction training also covers recognising risk factors such as poly drug use, reduced tolerance and environmental risks.

In addition to physical health risks, this harm reduction training session explores the social and psychological impacts of substance use. Participants will learn how stigma and discrimination affect engagement with services and how adopting a harm reduction approach improves trust and outcomes.

The training includes practical case studies and real world scenarios to build confidence in applying harm reduction strategies. Attendees will leave with the knowledge and skills to have informed conversations, identify warning signs and respond appropriately in community, outreach or professional settings.

Harm reduction training is suitable for frontline professionals, volunteers, peer mentors, educators and community members. It supports public health priorities and contributes to safer communities by equipping people with clear, actionable tools.

By completing harm reduction training, participants will strengthen their understanding of risk, improve safeguarding awareness and enhance their ability to promote health and wellbeing.
